    Job Description

    Position Title: Match Support Specialist
    Reports To: Program & Activities Director
    Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt
    Salary Range: $40,000-$45,000

    Position Summary
    The Match Support Specialist (MSS) reports to the Program & Activities Director and provides support and guidance to volunteer mentors (Bigs), parents, and youth (Littles) to enhance their positive relationships and outcomes. The MSS ensures child safety, tracks outcomes for youth, supports strong, long-lasting relationships between children and volunteers, and builds a strong sense of agency affiliation with all match participants.

    esponsibilities Include:

    • Manages all assigned matches on their caseload. This management includes conducting surveys, match meetings, contacts, support and closures, providing referrals to appropriate agencies when problems are encountered, and ongoing assessment of the match relationship, with a focus on trauma informed practices, match relationship development, child safety, privacy, positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction.
    • Leads and facilitates youth/volunteer enrollment processes and activities for assigned site-based mentoring programs and cultivate new community partnerships to grow site-based programs.
    • Identifies, addresses, provides coaching and resolves real and/or potential problems and barriers in a match as early as possible to ensure a positive youth development experience for the child, and successful and satisfying experience for the volunteer mentor and parent/guardian.
    • Maintains a vigorous contact schedule that includes in-person, phone, and electronic contact with the volunteer, child, and parent/guardian to monitor safe, healthy relationship development, and to reach monthly goals.
    • Provides regular updates to the Program & Activities Director regarding assigned matches and report all suspected violations of child protection laws, agency policies and BBBSA standards to the PAD immediately.
    • Assesses reasons for match closure; conducts match closure procedures; and potential re-match opportunities.
    • Maintains organized and well-documented support records in the agency database on a timely basis, including accurate contact and demographic information for all participants.
    • Maintains partnerships with staff at assigned schools and community partners and represent BBBSWC at various meetings, conferences, events, and other functions as necessary to fulfilling the goals of the program.
    • Provides support for community-based youth/volunteer enrollment processes and activities.
    • Provides secondary support for all fundraising events.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Successful candidates will meet the following qualifications:
    • Nonprofit experience, child and/or adult relationship dynamics, professional familiarity with child development issues, family function/dysfunction, trauma informed care, and interpersonal communication preferred. 
    • Strong assessment, decision making, exercising good judgment independently, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as a strong understanding non-verbal and body language skills.
    • Ability to handle stressful situations and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Relationship development experience and proven ability to form and sustain strong relationships with adults and children of all backgrounds and ages.
    • Proven ability to work with confidential information.
    • Ability to relate well in multicultural environments, follow up in a timely manner, detail oriented when collecting data to draw solid conclusions, and demonstrated patience with a confident and calming presence.
    • Ability to work independently while exercising good judgment, decision making, problem solving and time management skills.
    • Able to demonstrate high personal work standards and a sense of urgency about results to meet goals and deadlines.
    • 2+ years of experience working with at-risk youth, populations facing adversity and or high-level customer service is ideal.
    • This position requires a flexible schedule to meet required monthly contacts which will require some work in the evenings.
    Required Education:
    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in human services, education, social work, psychology, or other related field.
    Hours/Workdays:
    Mon-Fri., Mainly daytime with flexibility to work evening hours as needed to reach clients.
    Location:
    West Bend Office (103 S. Main Street, West Bend, WI 53095).

    Agency Requirements:
    Each year the agency holds events that typically fall after normal office hours. These events may be mandatory for all staff. For scheduling purposes, you will be notified of the dates as early as possible. These events may include but are not limited to the following:
    • Bowl for Kids’ Sake - February
    • Golf for Kids’ Sake - June
    • Golf Marathon – September

     As an employee of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Team, you may be required to attend other agency-related activities, meetings and events as deemed necessary.

    The physical demands at BBBS are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.     Performing the essential responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, operate computers and other office equipment, complete filing tasks and use written and oral communication skills. The employee may be required to transport or move up to 20 pounds.

    Travel
    The employee must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel within the community we serve with full time access to an automobile and automobile insurance in the amount required by the state of Wisconsin.
